BLOG 11.

I’m sitting at my writing desk overlooking the beautiful gardens at the back of my home.  The magnolias, I count 5, with a particularly huge one directly in front of me at the bottom of my garden.  The early Lombardy cherry blossom with that very Japanese appeal of the awakening of the world to springtime is to my right.  The sun is streaming and the cloudless sky is a beautiful pale blue.  In the distance, through the trees still adorned in their winter branches, the three spires of Lichfield Cathedral, the ‘Ladies of the Vale’.  Upwards they point to the heavens, with the glistening golden orbed cross on the top, catching the brilliance of the sun, glistening in the beauty of the day.

What kind of scene is this to behold in the horror of the world’s situation at this moment in time?  It’s a scene that gives me such solace I cannot get enough of it.  So many parents having to occupy their children at home.  Young and older ones alike.  The little ones will see it as an adventure, if parents endeavour to make it one.  It will be a time of togetherness that have been lost, or at least are elusive in the frenetic lifestyles of society.  A time to eat together, rest together. A time to talk together, share a game, or that profoundly influencing story.  Stories to tell.  Stories to read. Stories for the young, the teenager, for the grownups. Stories stories stories.

Yes this is a time for escape into a story.  A story with rhyme.  A story with pictures. A story full of words.  Words of fun.  Words of suspense.  Words that are scary.  Words of thoughtfulness, kindness, compassion.  Words that evoke awe and wonder. Words that create bonds.

Stores contain everything that’s worth experiencing whatever the age.  Stores pass meaning on.  Stories give lessons.  Stories illustrate love a myriad of human emotions.
